Q's Bar and Lounge

Quincy Jones's first bar: mahogany, leather and deep shadows inside Palazzo Versace, with the artist at the centre of the room.

Created with Quincy Jones, whose first-ever bar it is, Q's is the most theatrical room on this list, yet its scale remains pleasingly intimate. Mahogany, leather and deep shadows give it the appearance of a private music room concealed inside Palazzo Versace's extravagant architecture.

The draw is a programme of live performers, emerging artists chosen for the room, rather than a resident house sound. On the right night the room feels unusually close: the singer's phrasing, the drummer's smallest decisions and the audience's reaction all remain within reach. It opens Friday and Saturday evenings only; check the current artist before reserving and ask for a table close to the stage. Q's is at its best when the performance is the reason for going.
